Notice signs for planning and design review
A project notice sign communicates information required for public review at the site. It is separate from the story pole installation, and not every project needs one. The reviewing authority or project instructions control the wording, dimensions, material, graphics, placement and display period.
For some projects, the review board requires on site Project Signs be installed for the duration of the story pole installation and for the review process.
Sign sizes vary from 8.5″ x 11″ up to 4′ x 8′. At All American Story Poles, we can design, print and produce and install your project sign to meet the review requirements of your jurisdiction.
What must be approved before production
We need the required notice text, dimensions, material, graphics, application information, placement instructions and deadline. The project contact remains responsible for confirming that the supplied content is current and approved.
We prepare a proof from the approved specifications. Printing and placement begin only after the designated project contact approves the proof and confirms the site instructions.

Signs are printed in color or black and white, contain the required project information, contact information and proposed project renderings, if available. Signs are printed on outdoor coated vinyl and mounted on plywood and set on site with posts.

Official example: Los Gatos project signs
Los Gatos publishes detailed sign specifications in its official Height Pole, Flagging, Netting and Signage Policy. The summary below was verified in September 2026; confirm the current project instructions with Town staff.
- Single-family or duplex: the published policy specifies a 2 ft by 2 ft sign on the street frontage.
- Multi-family, mixed-use or commercial: the policy specifies a 4 ft by 8 ft sign on each visible frontage.
- Content and removal: the policy provides required content and says signs are removed within 30 days of final action. Read the official Town policy.
